Does window size matter?
The larger the window, the greater the loads it must carry. These include heat, wind pressure, and the weight of the insulated glass unit. Thermal movement may be more noticeable in longer profiles. Large dark PVC windows therefore require careful engineering.
The overall window dimensions are not the only concern. The size of the sashes, mullions, and transoms also matters. A large window should not be designed based only on appearance. Its construction must remain within the technical limits of the selected system.
Fixed glazing may be a better option in some projects. In others, dividing the structure or using aluminum windows may be more appropriate. Each window should be evaluated individually.
